LiDAR collection Don’ts

These are some things to not do when collecting LiDAR. Please note that some folks do things different than I do so please let me know if you think something on the list is acceptable and explain why in a comment below.

1. In air IMU initialization
2. Collection when distance from Base station is significant. PPP and Terrapos Guys excluded
3. Setting system parameters improperly. Most commonly having a laser power setting that is wrong for the altitude you are flying which causes saturation or drop outs
4. changing altitudes and not adjusting system setting to accommodate the change
5. Flying with to little overlap
6. Not planning mission to accommodate the required NPS or pushing the minimum for NPS
7. Operator not paying attention during flight
8. Collection of data beyond acceptable atmospheric conditions like crab angle and windspeed
