Additional Times for “America Unearthed” showcasing LiDAR

The premier episode of America Unearthed will be airing this Friday, December 21st at 10PM EST/9PM CST on History’s new network, H2. This episode will also be airing on Sunday, December 23rd (at 10/9pm Central) and Thursday, December 27th (9/8pm Central). Check your local listings for the channel number and additional air dates and times.

ELMF

We are delighted to announce that Lawrie Jordan, Director of Imagery at Esri and Special Assistant to Jack Dangermond, President of Esri, will be giving this year’s keynote presentation at the European LiDAR Mapping Forum, which is taking place in Salzburg in December 2012.

Mr Jordan’s keynote speech will provide a vision for the fast-paced LIDAR industry. Focusing on how organisations can take their remotely sensed data to create intelligent 3D images for use in the cloud and augmented reality, his presentation will address the challenges facing the industry as well as potential GIS solutions.

The European LiDAR Mapping Forum is taking place in Salzburg, Austria 4-5 December 2012, highlights include:

Innovative Conference
The highly acclaimed international conference offers an opportunity to learn about the latest advances in technology and hear about industry changes and developments first hand from industry experts. Find out more about data capture systems, data fusion/classification and processing techniques and the increasing integration of key technologies. Listen to case studies highlighting actual experiences and lessons learnt.

International Exhibition
Running alongside the conference is an exhibition of 50 system and component manufacturers, operators and service companies expected to demonstrate new LIDAR products and a wide range of new technologies and services. Exhibitors include airborne, terrestrial and bathymetric LIDAR, and complementary sensor manufacturers, survey service companies, data processing, GIS and management specialists and the latest mobile mapping vehicles.

Commercial Workshops
Delegates are able to attend our commercial workshop series presented by industry manufacturers aimed at providing novice operators, project and asset managers and potential purchasers of equipment with an understanding of the basic principles and fundamental benefits associated with LIDAR. These workshops are hosted by exhibiting companies and held alongside the ELMF conference. Delegates that are registered for the conference are able to attend free of charge.

Advanced Short Intensive Programme
ELMF is supporting an Advanced Short Intensive Programme that is organised and hosted by the University of Salzburg Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS and is being held from 30 November – 5 December. The course is catering to graduate students, young researchers and junior staff with a focus on research, development and applications involving LIDAR technologies and applications. The first three days being held at the University and the remaining days onsite at ELMF.

Mobile Mapping Vehicles
Mobile Mapping Vehicles will be parked directly outside the front of the centre providing easy access for all visitors wishing to view the latest technological developments in mobile mapping.
